In order to implement the Higher Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI) program and to further improve the quality of faculty lecturers in the fields of Science, Technology and Engineering at Hasanuddin University, Unhas through the Institute for Quality Assurance and Educational Development (LPMPP) carried out a workshop entitled ” Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Faculties Development Program ” which was held starting at 08.00 WITA at the Unhas Grand Ballroom, Unhas Hotel and Convention, Makassar, from Thursday (19/01) to Friday (20/01).
This workshop is an implementation of activities that have been carried out previously with the title HEPI Curriculum and Workplan Co-Creation workshop which aims to equalize the perceptions of the HEPI/USAID and Unhas Teams as well as compiling a curriculum and work plan for the HEPI/USAID-Unhas activity program which will be implemented in the next five years. front.
Present as the main resource person, Dr. Robert Schoenfeld presented material on Developing a Philosophy of Teaching ; Aligning Outcomes, Objectives and Assessments ; and Incorporating Teamwork into an Applied Learning Classroom . In his explanation, Dr. Schoenfeld conveyed the importance of building a teaching philosophy, understanding Bloom’s Taxonomy, aligning results, objectives and assessments in learning strategies, and applying teamwork that can be applied in the learning process.
“By the process of identifying and building a teaching philosophy, an educator becomes reflective and knows the goals of teaching so that he can determine what students will gain and be able to do after successfully completing their studies, and as an educator can communicate the objectives of the course learning outcomes and actions that can be implemented and appropriate in class so that the targeted learning objectives can be achieved,” explained Dr. Schoenfeld.
After the presentation of the material, it continued with a discussion session from the participants present. In general, the activity went smoothly and was attended by 37 participants from the ranks of Unhas leadership, PEKERTI/AA instructors and lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering and Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unhas. The entire series of activities ends at 11.30 WITA on Friday (20/01).
