The Hasanuddin University (Unhas) Quality Assurance and Education Development Institute (LPMPP) held a fire drill and emergency evacuation simulation. The activity was held at the LPMPP Unhas Building, Tamalanrea Campus, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, and involved all LPMPP staff, lecturers, and educational personnel.
This simulation is part of LPMPP Unhas’ ongoing efforts to ensure a safe working environment and improve the preparedness of the entire academic community in facing potential disasters, especially fires.
The activity began with a session on theory and procedures. This crucial Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) material was presented directly by Prof. Dr. Lalu Muhammad Saleh, S.KM, as Head of the Sub-Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health (Kasubdit K3) at Unhas. He explained the basic theory of prevention and proper evacuation procedures in accordance with campus safety standards.
Participants were then trained directly on:
- Use of Lightweight Fire Extinguishers (APAR): Participants practice how to extinguish fires using APARs with the correct and effective methods.
- Evacuation Procedure: A simulation of the alarm sound and a structured evacuation process, in which participants move orderly toward the assembly point along the predetermined evacuation route.
- First Aid: A brief briefing on handling victims in emergency situations.
The Head of LPMPP Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Musrizal Muin, M.Sc., emphasized the importance of this activity in his speech. “Safety is our top priority. With this simulation, we hope that every individual at LPMPP will not only be aware, but also able to act quickly, appropriately, and calmly in an emergency. This is an important investment for the protection of our vital assets, namely human resources and institutional facilities,” he said.
It is hoped that with regular training and simulations such as this, LPMPP Unhas can continue to create a safe and standardized campus environment, in line with Unhas’ vision of becoming a disaster-responsive campus.
