On Saturday, January 4, 2025, Hasanuddin University held a workshop entitled “Strengthening the Role and Improving the Performance of the Quality Assurance Cluster and Increasing Reputation”. This activity was held offline at the Inspiring Room, Hotel Unhas, and took place from 08.00 to 17.00 WITA. This workshop was attended by the Chairperson and Secretary of the Quality Assurance and Reputation Improvement Cluster (GPMPR) from all Faculties and Schools within Unhas. The main purpose of this activity is to increase understanding, capacity, and synergy between GPMPR units in encouraging academic quality and institutional reputation in a sustainable manner. The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of Unhas, Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM (K), who conveyed the importance of collaboration and strengthening the internal quality system.

The series of events continued with the presentation of the main material by two speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Rusnadi Padjung, M.Sc as Chair of Commission I of the Unhas Academic Senate, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Mursalim, IPU., ASEAN.Eng as Secretary of Commission I of the Unhas Academic Senate. The material presented includes the strategic role of GPMPR in the ecosystem of higher education quality, improving academic quality governance, and strategies for building institutional reputation at the national and international levels. The speakers also emphasized the importance of active involvement of all stakeholders and the use of data in supporting quality decision making. Both speakers provided comprehensive insights, accompanied by concrete examples and quality policy-based approaches that can be directly implemented in each work unit.

In addition to the presentation session, this activity was also designed to encourage active participation of the participants through group discussions and question and answer sessions. Participants were divided into groups based on faculty/school to identify challenges and formulate strategic steps in strengthening GPMPR performance in their respective environments. The results of the discussion showed that there is a real need to strengthen SOPs, optimize internal monitoring and evaluation systems, and build an overall quality culture. The participants showed high enthusiasm and shared the best experiences from their units, which became an added value in encouraging collaboration across faculties/schools. Each group presented the results of their discussion in front of all participants, who were then given feedback by the resource person and moderator.

The workshop was officially closed by the Chairperson of the Unhas Institute for Quality Assurance and Educational Development (LPMPP), Prof. Dr. Ir. Musrizal Muin, M.Sc. In his remarks, he appreciated the enthusiasm and involvement of all participants, and emphasized that the results of this workshop must be followed up concretely through real action in their respective units. He also conveyed the importance of making quality assurance part of the work culture, not just a formality. Overall, this activity went well, smoothly, and productively. It is hoped that this workshop can be a catalyst for sustainable quality transformation and enhancing Unhas’ reputation as a superior higher education institution at the national and global levels.
