On Monday, July 15, 2024, the Institute for Quality Assurance and Educational Development (LPMPP) of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held a workshop with the theme “Building a Culture of Quality through the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI)” at the LPMPP Unhas Hall. This activity aims to explain the importance of quality culture to all heads of doctoral, specialist, and vocational study programs throughout Hasanuddin University. This workshop activity was carried out in the LPMPP Unhas Hall. This workshop aims to ensure that both new study program leaders and study program leaders who have long held the mandate as head of study programs will be committed and consistent in implementing SPMI and Internal Quality Audit in each study program (especially for doctoral, specialist, and vocational programs). This workshop is one of the work programs of the Internal Quality Assurance Division (DPMI) of the Unhas Institute for Quality Assurance and Educational Development (LPMPP).

The workshop mechanism was carried out through various sessions and lasted from morning to evening. The initial session of the workshop began with the opening by the head of LPMPP and the delivery of the technical implementation of the workshop and the equalization of perceptions to all heads of study programs throughout Unhas delivered by the Head of the LPMPP Internal Quality Assurance Division. In this activity, the LPMPP Unhas team acted as resource persons, providing explanations and guidelines related to SPMI and Internal Quality Audit. The output of this activity is the increased understanding and ability of the heads of study programs in applying quality culture in their respective study program environments. This workshop was attended by 79 heads of doctoral, specialist, and vocational study programs from various faculties in Unhas.

The activity began with remarks from the Head of LPMPP Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Musrizal Muin, M.Sc, who emphasized the importance of implementing a quality culture in all study programs to achieve better accreditation and improve the reputation of the university. Furthermore, the material presentation session by the LPMPP team included a detailed explanation of SPMI, Internal Quality Audit (AMI) procedures, and effective implementation strategies. The workshop participants also had the opportunity to discuss and ask questions directly to the speakers regarding challenges and solutions in implementing SPMI in their respective study programs.

During the discussion session, the Head of Internal Quality Assurance Division, Dr. phil. nat. Sri Widodo, ST. MT. acted as moderator, and discussed various issues and challenges in the implementation of SPMI in the scope of Hasanuddin University study programs by the heads of study programs. The LPMPP team provided various practical recommendations and solutions based on experience and best practices that have been implemented at Unhas. This interactive discussion is expected to motivate the heads of study programs to be more proactive in implementing and developing the internal quality assurance system in their respective study programs. LPMPP resource persons who attended the workshop were Prof. Dr. Ir. Musrizal Muin, M.Sc, (chairman of LPMPL) and Dr. phil. nat. Sri Widodo, ST. MT. (Head of Internal Quality Assurance Division), Rini Rachmawaty, S.Kep., Ns., MN., Ph.D (Secretary of LPMPP), Prof. Dr. Yusring Sanusi B., S.S., M. App. Ling. (Head of Curriculum and Learning Development Division), and Prof. Dr. Kasbawati, S.Si., M.Si. (Head of Accreditation Management Division). This workshop is not only a place to deepen understanding of SPMI and AMI, but also to strengthen collaboration between LPMPP and study program leaders and socialize preparations for the implementation of the AMI cycle in 2024. Thus, Unhas hopes that the quality of tridarma can continue to be improved through a shared commitment to maintaining and improving quality culture. The output of this activity is expected to have a positive impact on the development of study programs and the achievement of superior accreditation in the future.
