Benchmarking Visit by LPM IAIN Kendari to Unhas Strengthens Strategy Towards International Accreditation

The Quality Assurance Agency (LPM) of the Kendari State Islamic Institute (IAIN) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Quality Assurance and Education Development Agency (LPMPP) of Hasanuddin University in Makassar on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. This visit is a strategic step by IAIN Kendari to strengthen its internal quality assurance system, particularly in relation to preparations for international accreditation for its flagship study programs.
The IAIN Kendari LPM delegation led by Dr. Samrin, M.Pdi. was warmly welcomed by the Head of LPMPP Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Musrizal Muin, M.Sc., and the Secretary of LPMPP Unhas Prof. Rini Rachmawaty, S.Kep., Ns., MN., PhD. along with the leadership of the LPMPP Unhas division.
Synergy in Improving Education Quality
Prof. Dr. Ir. Musrizal Muin, M.Sc from LPMPP Unhas emphasized in his speech the importance of inter-institutional collaboration to jointly improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia. He also explained that preparing for international accreditation requires a high level of commitment from the entire academic community and must be an integral part of the campus culture of quality.
Learning Focus at Unhas
The Head of LPM IAIN Kendari, [Dr. Samrin, M.Pd.], said that Unhas was chosen as the benchmarking location because of its excellent reputation and significant experience in achieving various international accreditations from prestigious institutions such as ASIIN, AUN-QA, FIBAA, and ABET.
“This visit is very valuable for IAIN Kendari as a concrete roadmap in preparing our study programs for the international stage,” said Dr. Samrin, M.Pd. at the end of the visit. “We hope that we can adopt and modify the system that has been implemented by Unhas to accelerate the target of institutional accreditation, and ultimately, achieve international accreditation.”
The discussion focused on several key points:
- Quality Document Management Strategy:
Study effective quality document preparation and management systems to meet international accreditation standards. - Internal Quality Audit (IQA) Implementation:
Explore best practices in IQA implementation as a form of “pre-accreditation” to ensure quality consistency. - International Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Achievement:
Exploring Unhas’ strategy in aligning its curriculum and learning outcomes with global quality indicators, including the implementation of Case Method and Project-Based Learning. - Accreditation Governance:
Learning about the systematic steps and institutional support provided by LPMPP Unhas in assisting study programs to achieve international recognition.
The visit ended with the presentation of souvenirs and a group photo session, marking the commitment of both institutions to continue working together in efforts to improve the quality of education.
